Common laundry mistakes that you may be making

Here at Laundry Chutes, we have your best interests at heart, especially
when it comes to washing! Working within this sector, we see the good, bad
and the ugly of cleaning fabrics. Now we want you to be the kings & queens
of cleaning, so we have created this guide to ensure that you don’t make the
mistakes that we have seen occur far too often!

1. Scrubbing stains excessively

We know the feeling, you’ve just spilt red wine over your brand new white
dress, so you frantically reach for your cleaning agent and scrub it until
your hand hurts! You aren’t alone, this is a very common reaction, but
scrubbing stains too much can result in further spreading. Instead, slowly
dab the stain and remove as much of it as you can, then spray some of your
favourite stain remover on the affected area, add your usual washing
detergent, put onto a 60 degree wash and keep your fingers crossed!

2. Using too much bleach

Bleach can be a lifesaver and for many cleaning fanatics, it’s our third arm!
But use too much of it and it can ruin some perfectly good clothes. Over
bleaching clothes will result in damaged fibres and can turn a red shirt into a
pink one!

3. Not zipping up your zipped clothes

Zipped jumpers, cardigans and coats can be a nightmare if they aren’t
washed correctly. If you don’t zip up these clothes before washing, they can
rip other clothes apart during a spin cycle! We have seen this mistake occur
far too many times, so make sure that it doesn’t happen to you next.

4. Leaving wet clothes in the washing machine

This is so common, leaving wet clothes in your washing machine can cause
bad smells, this is because of the growth of bacteria. Unfortunately, the only
way to get rid of this smell is to wash the clothes again.

5. Not having a laundry chute

Washing, especially for a family, can be a full time job in itself, especially if
you are travelling up and down flights of stairs. Wouldn’t it be incredible if
