Contemporary home laundry chute solutions

The modern homeowner is looking for more technological trickery than ever, and when it comes to gadgets - there's no beating the secret gadget.

Now, this doesn't have to mean the installation of fully heated flooring or a sun tunnel that brings sunlight to a windowless room, it can be something that makes day-to-day life a little easier or interesting, but still causes a murmur of admiration from visitors.

Property website Lamudi puts the inclusion of a laundry room in the same bracket as other sought after factors such as technology and location when it comes to house hunters demands. In 2012 a study by the National Association of Homebuilders, What Home Buyers Really Want, showed that the most essential feature of a US home was a laundry room.

The results showed that 93% of respondents classed a laundry room as a desirable feature for a home to have, with 57% of those classing a chute as essential. A laundry chute was more desirable in fact than both exterior lighting (90%) and table space for dining in the kitchen (85%).
So - why did it rank so highly?

Well, this research suggests that where the communal laundry chute from the TV show 'Friends' has always looked entirely unappealing, the idea of an integrated personal chute is now a sought after addition to a new or existing home.

But isn't a laundry chute more of a solution, rather than a gadget?
As mentioned above, there is nothing cooler than the secret gadget - much in the same way that a secret passageway hidden behind a bookshelf never ceases to amaze. A laundry chute door can be hidden away by lying flush against an interior wall, or even camouflaged by decorating it with the same paint or wallpaper. Or you could go completely in the opposite direction and opt for one of many interesting custom designs available (yes some even choose to diamond encrust theirs!) - all the time making life easier just like any other gadget.

What next, you ask - is there a solution that also takes the clean and ironed laundry back upstairs? Don't worry - laundry lifts are now a reality - www.laundryliftsolutions.co.uk
