Manly washday advice
Manly washday advice

Come on guys, that washing isn't going to clean itself, it's time to chute up, and get macho with this washday guide.

Have you got a guy at home that's a little bit useless at domestic chores? Do they struggle to find the cooker, can't quite fathom out how to drive the dishwasher, and haven't got a clue how the washing machine works?
That's not good. Why should you have to do all the washing at home when you both work equal hours? Maybe this is a good time to introduce your fella to the concept of laundry, start by showing him the chute you paid to have fitted in your home, or see if you can rouse his interest for long enough to get this type of labour-saving device fitted.

Long gone are the days when housewives stayed at home to complete domestic chores. Today, families split the chores, each playing their own vital part in the smooth-running of the household.

If your guy needs a prompt in this area, start by gently introducing him to laundry cleaning, and give him this manly advice.

Ten easy steps for laundry-phobic blokes:

  • Empty dirty washing baskets - Sort clothing into lights, darks and colours
  • Drop clothing down laundry chute - Save time, use a chute to make life easier
  • Load up machine - Place dirty items into the machine taking care not to overfill
  • Close machine door - Make sure it clicks into place
  • Choose setting - Pick the right load setting for the wash, check labels for advice
  • Add detergent - Place detergent into drawer on machine, add fabric softener if you like
  • Press start - Wait a minute to see water rising in the drum, listen to the machine whirr into life
  • Leave for a while - Depending on the type of machine you have this could take a few hours
  • Check cycle has finished - Check the door after the machine has finished washing the load, it should open with ease
  • Remove washing - Take the clean washing out of the machine and either hang outside to dry on a washing line or tumble dry, label permitting of course!

If you want to make washdays a little manlier you could have sport playing in the background, organise a poker game in-between loads, or use special types of laundry powder for men, which stops fellas smelling like flowers.

Get in touch with us at Inventive Homes if you would like a free sample of manly washing powder, and if you order a laundry chute within a specific timeframe, we'll send you a free tin of the stuff on the house.
